Sandra Turnbull (Senior Instructor)

Sandra’s background includes dance, the music industry and Pilates. She has taught Pilates since 1998 and was the successful co-founder of a Pilates studio in West London. Sandra trained with Alan Herdman and then Lesley Ackland prior to owning her own studio, and has specialist expertise in rehabilitation following on from spinal surgery, hip replacement surgery and knee restructuring, all using Lesley Ackland’s unique Pilates-based method.

She has an academic background, and possesses an inherent understanding of the psychology of teaching, incorporating constantly evolving techniques based on anatomical principles. Sandra is also a successful artist, with many of her paintings on display in the studio.

Dalh’s background includes musical theatre (having performed in “The Lion King” and other productions) and has also studied yoga and massage therapy.

She has taught at Lesley Ackland’s Pilates in the Crypt since 2010, after having practiced Pilates and performing as a dancer for many years.

Jenny Knight (Instructor)

Jenny Knight (Instructor)

Having first studied Pilates for herself, and having realised the benefits to be gained from studying the technique, Jenny then decided to train as a Pilates instructor.

She has taught and trained with some of the Pilates world’s most revered instructors, joining Lesley Ackland’s team in 2014 in order to continue her commitment to pass on the benefits of Pilates, both from a point of view of fitness and also of rehabilitation

Cheryl Liss (Instructor)

Cheryl Liss (Instructor)

Cheryl’s background is as a dancer with English National Ballet, and she has studied a wide variety of dance and performance styles throughout her career.

She has practiced Pilates – both personally and professionally – since the 1970s, and has been part of the Lesley Ackland Pilates in the Crypt team for several years. Since 1996 Cheryl has also taught Pilates and trained Pilates instructors for the Body Control Association.

Rebecca Burton (Instructor)

Rebecca Burton (Instructor)

Rebecca has a background in dance and sport – coming to Pilates after sustaining an ankle injury. She trained with Alan Herdman 18 years ago and has since worked alongside physiotherapists and osteopaths, and with clients of all ages and fitness levels. She is also a qualified masseur and cranio-sacral therapist. When she is not working with Lesley Ackland, Rebecca offers private one-to-one instruction and training for small groups outside the studio.
